“岁月失语，惟石能言”，砚本为石，其用途为文。尼山砚，行为中国名砚之一，因其石产于曲阜尼山而得名，它于尼山石之上，镌刻了一份属于儒学的独家系念。

　　“Where time falls silent, stones bear testimony,” an inkstone is essentially a stone, used for the purpose of writing.The Nishaninkstone, as one of China's famous inkstones, derives its name from the stone produced in Qufu's Mount Ni, engraving exclusive memories of Confucianism upon it.

　　尼山砚，为鲁砚中的杰出人物，其历史悠久，石质讲究，有着“简朴大方、巧夺天工”的艺术格调。砚石产自石灰岩夹层之中，数目珍稀，不易开采，其纹理密致万般，除传统的褐玄色松斑纹理外，又有水纹和山水画纹理。在实质制作中因材施艺，依形开墨堂、墨池，少有进修点缀，加之铭文多选自《论语》，自然名石与中国传统儒家文化互相照映，意蕴深长，气质典雅大方。2009年，曲阜尼山砚制作武艺被列入山东省第二批省级非物资文化遗产名录。

Often, inscriptions are chosen from The Analects, letting the natural beauty of the stone complement the essence of traditional Chinese Confucian culture in a dance of reflection and depth.In 2009, the craftsmanship of making Nishan inkstones was selected into the second batch of Shandong provincial intangible cultural heritage list.

　　从尼山石到尼山砚，需要历程选石、相石、野心、雕琢、磨光、刻砚铭等智力，传统产物有：松花砚、葫芦砚、竹节砚等，以及各式规格的旅游小砚。由于其与生俱来的儒家风味，在历史上，尼山砚或当贡品供献朝廷，或作礼品馈送振翅高飞。而新中国开辟后，在八九十年代，尼山砚屡次远赴日本、韩国、新加坡等地展出，好评如潮。尼山砚向国度和联系部门及往届“国外孔子文化节”、“国外儒学学术询查会”提供了多数的礼品，深受中外巨匠学者的真贵。尼山砚行为儒家文化的一种载体，越来越彰显出其高大的历史价值、文化价值、艺术价值和社会价值。

第三批名单涉及日本、韩国、英国、美国等世界热门旅游目的地国家。尤其是日、韩，对山东旅游业界有着特殊的意义和影响。名单发布后，受到社会各界热切关注。
